Home : News : Input Device Project Started
Not much progress on any of the existing projects - nothing worth posting at any rate - but I've started another (which will no doubt slow progress on them all to an even slower crawl!). It's an experimental input device I'm building, based around the Devantech SD84, a surprisingly versatile USB-attached servo controller with an impressive (certainly for the money) 84 flexible channels, 36 of which are capable of acting as analogue inputs. I'll be posting more about the SD84 as I learn more generally useful stuff about it, and of course posting updates on the EID as well.
The new project is inventively entitled EID; so far just a basic overview but hopefully more to follow.
Website Restructure
I'm on the verge of restructuring the site to focus it more around the projects. Having separate news and articles entries seems a bit pointless really; I'm probably going to go for a simpler, blog-like approach where the articles are the news, and where there are slightly more innately structured project pages. I was thinking of just switching from Argen to something more genuinely competent like Redmine, which is already nice and project focused, but I'm a little limited by what my hosting supports because I don't want the hassle of switching to another provider. This hosting arrangement supports CGI, including Tcl/Tk and Python, which suits me quite well, but after the takeover of Telivo by LCN they've been encouraging me to upgrade, which might incur the loss of some of the more obscure and not technically supported features.
Probably I'll soldier on with Tcl scripts, possibly including the venerable Argen, for a bit longer and ultimately replace it with something in PHP that's a bit more convenient to administer (and finally adds some feedback features like article comments).
Anyway, in the meantime, that's all; there are a couple of non-project articles in the pipeline but I'm pretty busy with unpostable things at the moment (learning CUDA and still building my Python knowledge, especially around Django and Python for S60). There's been some progress on Lereco as well but nothing I'm happy to write about yet.
I'll post more as it happens.
