I built this machine when I realised how much nicer my computing experience would be if my workstation performed a little better, and have used it for basically everything interactive, with the exception of tasks better suited to something physically smaller, since. For convenience, it's running Ubuntu.
I know, I know, I really should use Debian on a serious machine, but I'm just not worthy enough. Ubuntu is so ludicrously easy to live with, it appeals to the lazy part of me - and given that that's the dominant 95% of me, it tends to win.
As well as interactive use, this machine runs any mammoth processing jobs I find I need to get done, since it's my most powerful box. It also has a nice NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT, which I'm using to learn CUDA.
